About the Founder
Phixmo is a one-person company right now. That person is me. My name is Phazahn Odom, and I built this platform because I spent years in accounting across multiple industries before finding the one where better software could make the biggest difference: residential construction.
Before I get into the product, here's the story of how I got here. It's not a typical tech founder path.
I'm the founder and sole operator of Phixmo, a project management platform built specifically for small residential general contractors. Remodelers, ADU builders, room addition contractors, design-build firms. The crews running 3 to 10 person teams doing work between $50k and $2M per project.
I write the code. I handle the sales calls. I do the customer support. I designed the AI features. I send the invoices. If you email phaz@phixmo.com, you get me.
Phixmo handles estimates, AI blueprint takeoffs, job costing, contracts with e-signature, invoicing, change order approval workflows, time tracking with geofence, daily logs, a customer portal, and verified customer reviews. The field workers are free. You only pay for the people running the jobs.
I built it because I saw what was missing from the inside.
Before Phixmo, before accounting, I played football.
I played tight end at Fordham University from 2012 to 2016. Set the school record for most touchdown receptions by a tight end.
56 catches, 740 yards, 9 TDs across my career. Preseason All-American and All-Patriot League selection. Wore number 15.
In 2017, I signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. Number 87. Made it through parts of the offseason program before the roster math didn't work out.
That's the reality for most UDFAs. You give it everything, the numbers come down, and you transition to the next chapter.
After football, I went into accounting. Not construction accounting. Not yet. I spent years building deep expertise across completely different industries.

Four companies across four different industries. InsurTech, executive coaching, public accounting, and wholesale marketplace. Each one taught me something different about how businesses track money, where they lose it, and what systems prevent the leaks.
In 2024, I started consulting for residential general contractors on the side. That's when everything clicked.
Playing professional football taught me how small inefficiencies compound into big outcomes. A missed assignment on one play doesn't lose a game by itself, but stack enough of them and you're 0-4 before you know what happened.
After years of doing accounting across multiple industries, I saw the exact same pattern playing out in residential construction, but worse than anywhere else I'd worked. Small bookkeeping inefficiencies compounding into huge margin losses.
One change order that never gets billed. One week of labor that doesn't get tracked. One material delivery that nobody logs. Each one is small. Together they kill a job's profit.
By the end of 2025, I started building Phixmo.
The most common thing I saw was a contractor who bid a kitchen remodel at $180k with a 12% margin, finished the job, and then discovered during reconciliation that the actual margin was 4%. By then there is nothing to fix. The money is gone.
Customer asks for an extra outlet. Crew does it. Nobody writes it up. That's $400 gone. Multiply that by 10 to 15 small requests across a $200k project and you've lost $4,000 to $6,000 in margin that was rightfully yours.
They estimate 80 hours of framing, the crew takes 120, and nobody catches it until the job is done because nobody is comparing estimated vs actual hours week by week.
Procore is built for commercial crews running $50M projects. Buildertrend started in residential but keeps raising prices and adding complexity that serves larger builders. The 5 to 15 person crew doing remodels and additions gets left behind. They end up on spreadsheets and group texts because the existing solutions don't fit.
The problem was never that contractors are not tech savvy. The problem is that nobody built software that matches how a small residential crew actually operates. If the tool is simple enough that the owner can set it up in an afternoon and the crew can clock in by the next morning, they'll use it.
Having done accounting across InsurTech, executive coaching, public accounting, and wholesale, I could see that the construction industry had the weakest financial tooling of any sector I'd worked in. Not because the people were less capable. Because the software hadn't caught up to how they work.
Upload a blueprint PDF, AI extracts the measurements, you review and adjust, then generate a full cost estimate from the takeoff. This turns a 3 to 4 hour manual process into 10 minutes. I built this because I watched estimators spend entire evenings doing takeoffs by hand.
Every other platform charges per user. That means a GC's bill goes up when they hire more crew members. On Phixmo, field workers clock in, submit receipts, log photos, all for free. The GC only pays for managers, PMs, and supervisors. A 3-person office with 15 field workers costs the same as a 3-person office with 2 field workers.
Right now, homeowners can see project progress, approve change orders, and leave verified reviews tied to real completed projects. Down the road, this becomes the basis for a lead generation feature that connects homeowners with trusted, reviewed contractors. Not the Angi model where everyone pays for the same shared leads. Something better.
I've seen what renewal price hikes do to small businesses that depend on their software. It's not happening here. The rate you sign up at is your rate.
I'm not hard to find.

I spent years in accounting across multiple industries, then started consulting for residential GCs. The construction industry had the weakest financial tooling of any sector I had worked in. The tools that existed were either too expensive, too complex, or built for commercial construction. I built what I wished they had.
I'm not a contractor. I'm an accountant who consulted for residential GCs. I've seen jobs from the financial side across multiple contractors. I know where the money leaks and what needs to be tracked to prevent it. That perspective is different from most construction software founders, and it shows in how the product is built.
Yes. Played tight end at Fordham University (2012 to 2016), set the school record for most TD receptions by a tight end, and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. It was a short chapter but a real one. Football taught me how small inefficiencies compound. That lesson drives everything about how Phixmo tracks costs.
Phixmo is built specifically for residential GCs with small crews. AI blueprint takeoffs, free field worker seats, a plan that is free forever, and the rate you subscribe at stays your rate. Buildertrend, Procore, and Houzz Pro are all solid products but they are built for bigger operations, bigger budgets, or a marketing-first workflow. Full comparisons are available for each.
